About Southern-Bio

About

Sherry Franklin and Kristy Murray have known one another for more than 25 years and have been best friends for nearly as long. They had been throwing around the idea of starting a business together for years. What kind of business?  That was the most difficult decision for them both. They weren’t sure exactly what kind of business they were interested in.

The one thing that they were certain of was that they wanted to help others. That was their passion. They had always shared compassion for others through Christ! Compassion & Integrity would be the foundation that began Southern-Bio LLC.

Sherry called Kristy and suggested a Biohazard and Trauma cleaning company. She then explained why this was the perfect fit for them. You see, Sherry’s Uncle had previously taken his life, and after hearing about the exuberant costs that had caused her Aunt to take out a second mortgage on their family home while grieving the loss of her spouse, Sherry was even more upset with the situation. She was adamant that this is how they could help people/families in need. They could make a small difference in the World one family at a time. Once Sherry shared the story with Kristy…. they made the decision right away.

They decided to take one year and complete their OSHA training and certifications while purchasing their supplies and equipment and learning how to utilize them properly. That is what they did. In May of 2020, they both quit their full-time jobs and hit the ground running. They decided that they needed to first make a name for themselves. They needed to first become a company that was respected for their dedication, dependability, compassion, and integrity

They would start with that “old-school” customer service. They began with volunteering opportunities for the special-needs community, A local youth camp, the contractors for Christ, churches, etc. They had been given the opportunity to give back and help others all while gathering experience, networking with other business owners, and making a name for themselves. They decided to branch out and offer residential and small business cleaning services to help with the business expenses while volunteering their specialized services.

After training with one of the top residential cleaning companies in the Birmingham area, they then took their knowledge and training in biohazards and tweaked their cleaning procedures for residential and small businesses that ensured a healthier environment for their clients. It wasn’t long before they began receiving calls about cleaning & sanitizing destroyed rental properties, mold, hoarding remediation, and other biohazard situations.

They joined “Pinnacle BNI” and began networking with other business owners and business decision-makers. Kristy and Sherry now have a residential/small business team, “Southern-Charm Cleaning,” that services those clients and has certified technicians that remediate the biohazard side “Southern-Bio LLC.” They now service the Cullman, Jefferson, Blount, Walker, Shelby, and St. Clair County areas.
